Tankerton - Geography Fieldwork Visits
Our GCSE and A Level Geography students recently took part in a series of fieldwork visits to Tankerton and Reculver on the Kent coast, as well as urban investigations in Stratford and Greenwich. These trips provided valuable opportunities for students to apply their classroom learning in real-world environments while gathering data to support their exam preparation and coursework.
Along the coast at Tankerton and Reculver, students investigated coastal processes, management strategies and changing landscapes. They worked diligently to collect a range of data, demonstrating excellent geographical skills and a strong understanding of the topics they have been studying in lessons.
Meanwhile, in Stratford and Greenwich, students explored themes of urban regeneration, sustainability and quality of life. Through surveys, observations and data collection, they developed the analytical skills needed for both examinations and independent investigations.
Staff were particularly impressed by the students' behaviour throughout all of the visits. They represented the school exceptionally well, showing maturity, enthusiasm and respect for members of the public and the environments they visited. Their positive attitude and willingness to engage fully with every task made the fieldwork both productive and enjoyable.
The trips were not only an important part of preparing students for their GCSE and A Level examinations and coursework, but were also a great deal of fun. Students embraced the challenges of fieldwork, worked collaboratively with their peers and made the most of the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom.
We are extremely proud of all the students involved and look forward to seeing how the knowledge and skills they gained during these visits contribute to their future success in Geography.
