Dartford Grammar School for Girls

Sports Day 2026

This year's DGGS Sports Day was a brilliant day filled with competition, teamwork and plenty of House spirit! Students from Chartwell, Hever, Ightham, Knole, Leeds and Penshurst all gave their best as they represented their Houses across a wide range of events.

The morning was packed with field events and longer-distance races, including tug of war, discus, javelin, shot put, as well as the 800m and 1500m. There were some fantastic performances, with students showing determination, resilience and great encouragement for one another throughout the morning.

In the afternoon, attention turned to the track with the exciting 100m, 200m and 300m races, before the day finished with the always popular 4 × 100m relays. The cheering from the sidelines created an amazing atmosphere, with every House getting behind their teammates.

Sports Day wasn't just about athletics either. There were lots of activities for everyone to enjoy, including face painting, banner making, and arts and crafts, giving students the chance to show off their creativity and House pride. The arrival of the ice cream van in the afternoon was also a big hit and provided a well-earned treat after a busy day of events.

A huge well done to everyone who took part, whether competing, supporting their House or helping to make the day such a success. The enthusiasm and positivity on display made it a fantastic event for the whole school community.

We'll be celebrating all of the achievements and announcing the overall results during a full Sports Day Celebration Assembly taking place over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for that!
