Dartford Grammar School for Girls

International Women's Day

Students took part in a range of activities to mark International Women’s Day. During form time, students reflected on inspirational women, wrote thoughtful thank-you messages, wrote pledges, and considered how they can support and uplift one another within our school community.

We were incredibly proud of the maturity and respect shown by students throughout these activities. Staff greatly appreciated the postcards, which recognised the impact of inspirational figures in their lives, and a selection of student pledges have now been turned into a display outside the careers office.

In addition, both staff and students led a variety of extracurricular sessions, including the Danish Art of Happiness, Inspirational Women, Crochet Club, sharing cultural cuisine and British Sign Language. These sessions provided further opportunities for students to engage, learn new skills, and celebrate the theme of inclusion and wellbeing.

We also had a whole-school assembly led by our Head Students. The assembly featured a performance by our gospel choir, poems written and shared by Year 7–9 students as part of the House poetry competition, and a powerful spoken word performance delivered by a Year 12 student. These contributions highlighted the importance of equality, respect, and celebrating the achievements of women past and present.

As a school, we remain committed to fostering a culture where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
