DGGS Joins the Dartford Bear Hunt
Early last term, forms across the school took part in an exciting competition to design and decorate our very own bear cub as part of the Dartford Bear Hunt. Students were challenged to create a design inspired by childhood nostalgia, celebrating the toys, games, stories and memories that make childhood such a special time. The competition produced a wide range of imaginative ideas, all reflecting creativity, fun and the importance of happy childhood experiences.
The winning design came from 8L, whose thoughtful and visually engaging concept was selected to represent DGGS. Working alongside our Year 12 Art Prefects and Year 12 Fine Art students, the design was then transformed from sketchbook ideas into a fully realised sculpture. The project provided a fantastic opportunity for students of different year groups to collaborate on a large-scale piece of public artwork.
This summer, our completed bear will become part of the Dartford Bear Hunt Art Trail, a community initiative featuring decorated bear sculptures displayed across Dartford. The trail aims to bring art into public spaces, encourage visitors to explore the local area, and raise vital funds for Ellenor, the local hospice charity. We are incredibly proud of all the students involved and look forward to seeing our bear become part of this exciting community event.
