A Dance Company
On Tuesday 23rd January, Year 10 GCSE Dance were visited by a Dance Company for a two-hour professional workshop. Students were visited by two delegates and experienced a range of skills throughout. Students are about the embark on their Performance in a Duet or Trio pieces and the workshop was timed perfectly to develop the skill of contact work and lifting. Throughout the workshop, students were able to build their confidence when completing contact work and lifting with another dancer; focusing specifically on the importance of trust, contact points, centre of gravity and weight sharing through the body. Students learnt repertoire from the professional work ‘Within Her Eyes’ and were also able to easily create their own choreography. The choreography learnt and developed is excellent preparation for the GCSE performance work, in addition to the theory examination component when students are required to study and analyse ‘Within Her Eyes.
